FENNYMAN The theatres are all closed by the plague! HENSLOWE Oh, that. FENNYMAN by order of the Master of the Revels! HENSLOWE Mr. Fennyman, let me explain about the theatre business. (they stop) The natural condition is one of insurmountable obstacles on the road to imminent disaster. Believe me, to be close by the plague is a bagatelle in the ups and downs of owning a theatre. FENNYMAN So what do we do? HENSLOWE Nothing. Strangely enough , it all turns out well. FENNYMAN How? HENSLOWE I don't know. It's a mystery. LAMBERT (dumbly) Should I kill him, Mr. Fennyman? At this point din is heard in the background. a messenger, ringing a bell, is running though the street. MESSENGER The theatres are reopened. By order of the Master of the Revels, the theatres are reopened FENNYMAN is intrigued. FREES Mr. Fennyman! Mr. Tilney has opened the playhouses. FENNYMAN Yes I heard. HENSLOWE plays his temporary advantage modestly, shrugging himself free of LAMBERT'S grip. HENSLOWE (to LAMBERT) If you wouldn't mind HENSLOWE continues on his way. FENNYMAN watches HENSLOWE, curious. FENNYMAN Where is the play? HENSLOWE Oh, it's coming, it's coming.
"""April was the cruellest month" The Waste Land by T.S. Eliot adapted by John Farragher to suit lack of Arts Council funding

We started with great expectations: Artists and artivists from all over the world coming to stage their global acts on our local stage. We had Lisa Gerrard from Dead Can Dance lined up for Titania and what a fairy queen she would have been. We had the dulcet strings of Kazu Suwa'a classic guitar and a host of other creative talents from Finland, italy and Ireland. All we needed was a few pence from our patrons and sponsors. We waited patiently and proceeded to prostitute ourselves for the sake of our art but our pleas for a little money fell on deaf ears.
I say a plague on both their houses. Ah no not really. It's not about the money. What matters is what we can do without this strange and often cumbersome resource.
Rather it is fear of the unknown and failure that often stops us from trying to follow our dreams. We dare to be different and do what we set out to do with or without you.
Funding is not forthcoming but the play is and we believe if we begin to build you will come and support us in any way you can.
Rehearsals are underway despite some hiccups along the way. Venues have changed and come full circle again. We're still in the square and in McMahon park for our Sunday matinee. May the Gods grant us some sunshine and may our musicians and cast also shine for us all to flourish.

"Readiness is all" and we're doing our best to be for midsummer.
